Bold patterns

I would really like to work with a client who is daring enough to use bold patterns. In most of my projects I've convinced my clients to use colour but never been able to use bold wallpaper... I've gotten away with bold fabrics now and then though, which is a step in the right direction! Take a look at these gorgeous rooms - the use of colour, pattern and accessories are perfect.

Decorator Alessandra Branca employs Quadrille’s Ballon de Gonesse cotton for the walls, bedding, and curtains in the guest room of the Chicago apartment she designed for her friend Joyce Dawson. The curtains are backed with Scalamandré’s Decatur Plaid silk, and the pillow shams are by Schweitzer Linen:

For the library of Lee Radziwill’s Paris apartment, she chose Mikado, a fanciful cotton by Le Manach, for the walls, curtains, and upholstery:

Lee Radziwill chose a vintage stripe by Rubelli to use throughout the sitting room of her Manhattan apartment—on the walls, for the curtains, and to upholster a daybed of her own design; the leopard-print pillows are of a silk blend by Le Manach:

In the master bedroom of Aerin Lauder Zinterhofer’s East Hampton, New York, home, the oversize pattern of a Michael Devine linen is used on the walls and bed skirt. The bedding is by Leontine Linens, the tufted chairs are vintage Edward Wormley, and the rug is by Beauvais Carpets:

I absolutely LOVE Christmas.

Everywhere is so festive, twinkling lights, excited children (and grown ups!), family time.

I love the versatility of ceramic garden stools. They can be used for stylish side tables to rest a drink on them or additional seating - or both! They are so many interesting designs too from traditional to contemporary.

Hamptons-style home in Sydney

I love the casual style of this 1950s bungalow, on a ridge just a trot from Royal Randwick Racecourse. Perched centrally on the 600-square-metre block, with a dilapidated granny flat in the north-facing rear garden.

The all-white colour scheme, inspired by the owner's favourite designers, India and David Hicks, ties the look together. Shells, candles and hurricane lamps combine with an heirloom dining table and Windsor chairs, all in harmony with cool sea and sand accents.

Gorgeous sofa

My client and I are very excited about the delivery of this beautiful custom-made sleeper sofa. It's going to be placed in a guest bedroom/office. The space has the most amazing Chinese screen with orange and blue hues, the room also houses a stunning antique bureau. I cannot wait to see it in it's new eclectic home.

Black and white interiors

I love black and white interiors, they are so dramatic! I have just convinced a friend of mine to let me design a room in her home in black and white - I can't wait:

It just goes to show that you don't have to live in a large space to get the wow factor. I love the creative designs of these rooms.

Alameda Antiques Market (Dec 09)

Laura, Jade and I braved the cold yesterday and ventured over the Bay Bridge to Alameda's Antiques market. We had a great day. There were lots of stalls full of fabulous finds. I loved these wooden sculptured spheres. I think they would make amazing chandeliers - unfortunately they were sold:
