Purple

I suppose I've never really thought about using purple! But after looking at these images I think I need to reconsider!

Amethyst and lilac shades are some of the hottest decorating colours right now, having stepped off the runways and into the home:

Refinished chairs, a trestle-style dining table and a dramatic-yet-affordable overhead light give this dining room real style. I really like the plum coloured wall and how well it works with the ajoining room:

A large wicker sofa and chair sit on a patterned floor rug in tones of gold and chartreuse in this living room. Luxurious elements such as a large silk pendant light, intricately carved table lamps, a dramatic, oversized mirror, velvet cushions in a deep violet and an inlaid side table all work together to create a luxurious, well-travelled style:

Decorating with colorful furniture, flowers and stylish wallpaper adds drama to your living space.
In this design, a pretty tufted lilac sofa and bright-green drapes add an exotic element. A contrasting pink chair, delicate wall sconces and a vintage chinese garden stool convey a sense of the homeowner's personality:

A dramatic medallion print wallpaper adds drama to a fireplace wall. This eclectic living room comes alive with a black-painted mantel and burnt-orange velvet chairs. Modern touches, like the gold table lamp and collection of blue vases, keep the look from feeling too fussy:

Add a decorative touch to dramatic wallpaper with a beautiful glass leaf wall sconce:

An amethyst-hued rug and pillows add rich colour and glamour to this space. Purple mohair, velvet and satin accents contrast beautifully against a moleskin-brown sofa and drapes. A simple coffee table and side table keep the look classic:

Thanks to www.houseandhome.com for these great photos.
