Alameda antiques market

I think that the best antiques markets I have seen are in England (but then I'm biased), France (Paris) and Spain (Madrid)..... but I have a new favourite..... Alamdea. The vendors are so friendly, patient and open to a bit of negotiation!

This stall is fabulous - lots of wonderful linens, pillows, bedding and a bargin bin too:

This vendor sells the most amazing decorative items.... he also has lots of very interesting books.... I actually bought, dare I say, three "sex" books from 1915... they were hilarious!

Being brought up in Stoke-on-Trent - home to all of the pottery industry (Wedgwood, Dalton, etc) - I'm always drawn to plates.... and lo and behold, these were from my home town:

Not my taste, but I'm sure these chairs went to a good home:

Gorgeous star fish and coral:

I actually used to type on one of these - honestly!

More decorative items:
Old 45s:
Letter stamps - just gorgeous:

Russian medals:

Lovely dressing table items:

These bottles remind me of my gorgeous Grandma from Durham - she had a huge bottle like this that she used to fill with hot water to warm my bed:

More vintage bottoms:

Great cutlery that would grace many a fancy table:

More vintage finds:

More great finds:

  2. Hi there, all the details for the market can be found at:

It really is one of the best markets I have been to. It's on the first Sunday of every month and is just over the Bay Bridge from San Francisco.

    Enjoy!

    Valerie
